This poem is written by Bruce McKenzie, a very dear friend of mine who has just lost his life's much loved partner. It is a beautiful tribute to a lovely lady and I thought you might like to share it with me. Earthly Angel Dark clouds above are drifting All around the word is grey, There’s a broken heart within me For my love has gone away. The tiny buds are opening to gild the wattle bough, But Spring time’s golden promises are nothing to me now. Beneath the shading branches where scented violets grow, Shy fuchsias bow their pretty heads, It seems as if they know. A rainbow spans the heavens brilliant colours to display, But none can match the beauty of the one I lost today. There are tear-drops ever falling I can’t stay them though I try, And hide myself away somewhere for grown men do not cry. And I try to find the reason why they took my love from me, But maybe with time passing by an answer there will be. The daffodils are blooming in her garden, row on row, But the weeds are fast encroaching where the Johnny-jump-ups grow. Her caring hands are resting and will no more tend them now, But ever grateful for her love I know they’ll bloom again somehow. And if there is a place up there where Earthly Angels go, She’ll be there and plant a garden and she’ll watch the dahlias grow. And when I go to find her ‘mid the flowers blooming bright, She might have me prune the roses and I’ll try and do it right. Lindsay |

Lindsay, your friend Bruce McKenzie is a fine poet and the depth of his love for his life's partner was gracious, eloquent, and beautifully expressed. I extend my heartfelt sympathies for his great loss. This truly is a beautiful expression from his loving, poet's heart. Love & Eternal Light, Linda |

Lindsay, I think you know I hold you in the highest regard and appreciate your being a member here. I also feel sympathy for your good friend and he did indeed write a beautiful tribute to her. The problem is that we have to enforce the rules and the rules stipulate that all work posted by a member MUST be his own work, which is unfortunately not the case here. Should your friend wish to take a minute to fill out the membership form (at no charge, of course), he is free to post it under his own name. Although you obviously intended nothing wrong here, it is a rule that we MUST enforce, regardless of the circumstances. Your friend has my, and I'm sure OUR, sympathy. |
