So Who Denies This Cross?

I will never point a crooked finger
Nor will I create a danged dead ringer
Who looks like someone that I might align
To this space that could be renamed as “mine”.

Space, where a utopian spirit soars
Where a diminutive mouse that well roars
So who denies the cross that flies “Country?”
Who says those that gave, won’t give, any more?

Organizations came by us to be
A perfect example in our country
But only now, exulted, owned by graph
We decline to write our own epitaph.

Nay, I say, and I will thus mountains climb
To remind me, and yours, of our resign
To face such that simply will never be
A Guide, that will Flag our own sweet Country.

Honor abounds, by such word and great deed
Of those who fled regimes that had such need
belittling, belaboring lives
of those that gave, those husbands, and their wives.

Can you not honor this flag that might sing
To those that served, whose honor that still rings?
And to whose gain, now blessed by some mankind,
Would exclude those that gave, still on our minds?

Sunshine,

A well chosen picture accompanying your finely written, passionate poem! The eagle has impeccable vision from afar. Sometimes, to me it is almost a blur as to who/what the enemy is in this labyrinth laid. Some enemies are much more clear... Yes, it is important to stand for our ideals and honor those who have stood before us.
