we were those occasional menders of time
in that blending room of windows
the strum dancers of leather moan music
that would cling to our skins after
and make that candy coating residue

you liked to dress in nothing much colors
and just wear my eyes out in public
where you would wear my arms on your shoulder
or around you waist like a lasso
holding you almost wanting to be helpless

there were stallions at our horizons
and you were nervous about their thunder
but the soft soot of their eyes
made you lean into my man cave shadows
you said my spurs were your favorite jewelry

and a scar now and then would be sins early lovely

The poem is wonderful - but those lines are my keepers. Absolutely beautiful. Kind of tuck in my purse and read now and then "beautiful".
