I was there, my child When your loved one needed me In their moment of pain When their world was crashing down All around them When the panic was in their eyes Their hearts beating with fright I stood there beside them Carrying them through their anguish They were not alone on that morning Perhaps they saw me there Holding their hands in mine Maybe they didn't know I was near Feeling I had abandoned them Just when they needed my love most Fear not, while you weep I did not forget them For I held them all in my arms Those that knew Those that wouldn't know And I held them safe within my heart As I carried them Home Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "WHAT A RIDE |
