. Always our rebel side Got into trouble Fighting bloody-knuckled To defend what was faith The peasant underdog Found shelter and food Under our sheds for victory If it comes is sweet The truth poor maiden Found her virtue defended With sword and blood Whatever the cost What were kings To us living in such times What crimes could those Who stayed at home Possibly accuse us of For which we were not daily Paying with pain in our wounds For our sins We prayed for absolution But then our God as yours Answered as if all he could Was silence Rattling the bars Of this jail That was our after lives Only after years Did we realize That it is Death Who as always Holds the keys To exoneration And compensation And final forgiveness And now Senor How good it finally is To be free . |
