In Search of the Sublime
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

+*+*+*+*+*+
Onward I trudge, over rock-strewn trails,
That wind up the mountain of life.
I trip and I fall ~ and sometimes I crawl,
Through my pains, and sorrows, and strife.

With grit in my teeth ~ clenched tight with grief,
From the sadness, and loss, and travails,
I tromp onward up ~ with a half-empty cup,
With no winds to billow my sails.

With spirit so weary, and eyes all teary,
I pray that there’s Light at the end.
So onward I climb ~ in search of sublime,
And step by small step, I ascend.

As I near mountain top, I waiver then stop,
For a brilliant white light crowns the crest.
I stand there in awe, with a slack, open jaw,
~As I’m bathed in God’s love and am blessed.

I fall to my knees as a gentle warm breeze,
Melts all of the ice in my being.
Away slips the strife ~ as I brim with new life,
~ With my heart, I now will be seeing.

*+*

Onward I trudged, over rock-strewn trails,
That wound up the mountain of life.
I’d trip and I’d fall ~ and sometimes I’d crawl,
~ Now I march to the trill of God’s fife!
+*+*+*+*+*+

My sweet Canadian Angel, you have done it again, written a real masterpiece, a joy to

read. The only complaint I have is that your half empty cup should be half full.
A great poem. love you.

LP ~

Thank you, Lindsay! I'm pleased that you enjoyed my quest for the sublime ~ which, might I add, I have found many times in my life!
Never fear, I'm the eternal optimist and I have never considered my cup half empty. It's either half full or brimming over!

Love you, my dear Aussie Man!

Prasad ~

I have endured many hardships in life ~ That's part and parcel of being human in this Earth experience. However, by doing my utmost to have a positive attitude through the difficult times, keeps me from sinking into the quadmire, so to speak.

Just know, my friend, that the sun still shines even behind the darkest clouds.

I would imagine that the continuos monsoon rains would 'dampen one's spirits'.

Be well! Be safe!

Love and a warm hug,

Oh, dearest Linda Angelo Terrestre, I am somehow in a teary mood this afternoon and reading your magnificent poem just helped me release the tears. The Light, yes, it's always there and this awareness allows us really to never despair.

A keeper for sure!

Thank you, beautiful soul.

Love and hugs.

Bluesy One ~

If you saying that my poem takes your breath away is cliche, then I like cliche!

Lori, that was espcially nice for you to say. It has me beaming!

Esha ~

It truly saddens me that you feel that your heart is "finally dead". I hope that it is just temporarily numb. You've been through some painful emotional upheavals in your life, and I pray that the love that you deserve will come your way and heal your tender heart permanently!

My dear Mar-phina, it saddens me to know that you are feeling sad today. Tears can wash away our dreary thoughts. I know that you believe as I do, that every cloud has a silver lining which shows us that the sun is still shining behind the clouds.

I'm pleased that my search for the sublime has offered you some comfort.

This is beautiful, Linda. Beautiful in both its artistry and its message.

I've met many people who will use their faith to elevate themselves in a spirit of supernal arrogance, but you do it with a quiet grace, an unselfish love, and a warmth devoid of judgement.

Love and hugs, Luke.

And all the roads that I've been strolling down... now I've found they all seem to be marooned. So profoundly doomed.

My dear miss sunshine, No matter how sad  you may be feeling I would never be able to picture you as such. You are Happiness personified even if only on these pages. I could never picture you sad. But being human I am sure you can be at times.  I think like me you just dump it and carry on. You know I read everything you put out here. Love all you do. I just do not have as much time  to post to every one. Best to you, latearrival.

Good morning, MicheleRose! I like the way  you put that! Yes, that is exactly how it goes! As you well know, dear Goddess, Earth life can be VERY  difficult at times!
However, as the saying goes, when the going gets tough ~ the tough get going!

Luke, you truly have a beautiful soul. The kindness, gentleness, and wisdom come shining through in your much-appreciated comments. We are all works in progress, and in some ways, my friend, you are far ahead of the pack!

Yeppers, dear marty jo! You and I are cut from the same cloth! We're been tried and we've been tested (haven't we all! ), but we pick up our feet and keep on trudging through the crapola and never give in to it!

It was VERY good to hear from you this fine fall morning! It pleases me to learn that you read and enjoy my poems. You need not reply to them. Just knowing that you read and appreciate what I have to say, is very gratifying. Thank you!

Smiling at you from the inside out,

Linda

(rejuvenating angel hugs) Oh Linda, I believe anyone here can relate to the struggles and hardships of the long, arduous journey of life for "something more", whatever it may be as it means something differently to each and every one of us! (sigh) Indeed I've fought back rivers of tears and have harbored my share of battle scars as well as I, myself, have leafed lonesome before with a heavy heart through this blistering wilderness of life, and there were often times I felt I hadn't inched one step closer to the summit, wondering if I was doomed to live a life bereft and undeserving of love and internal peace! At one point or another, we are all in the same boat, as life is a learning experience each step of the way, and I know we both have much more room to grow................and yet, now that I look back and see how far I've come, I can now eye the apex of the world's highest mountain and say "Hey, that's nothing compared to the terrain I've already traversed, let me at it!" (does happy dance)

I hope all has been well with you, my friend, and I have no doubt whatsoever you will find what you're looking for real soon as you are one who surely summons the courage to take on any conflict straight-on, as well as possess the wisdom to mediate your existence! (huggies) This is a fabulously poignant write, my friend, thanks for sharing!

XOXO,
Noah Eaton

You are the first one I read and search for, because it's always something I need to hear.   God has been speaking to me, and I've been deaf.  You open my heart to hear again.

My dear Krissy Tink, you are not "deaf" to God's voice! Perhaps, like most of us, you may be just a little bit hard of hearing at times!

Klassy One ~

Karen! I've been thinking of you again! It's curious that ofttimes I will find a reply from you when that happens!

Thank you for your lovely, gracious, and kind words.

Love and healing hugs,
