Psychic Residue
by Linda L. Dowd

Psychic residue
permeates the surroundings.
~ Impregnating all.

Melancholy seeps
from sad, lingering spirits,
~ Into weeping walls.

Those from long ago,
remain lost and locked inside
the country cottage.

In the darkest hours,
mournful cries from departed,
echo through the night.

I reach out to them.
~ Sending them towards the Light,
to find their way home.

.

Linda,

I really liked this, particularly liked how you used the senryu to create a story as you did.  I am not sure if I have seen that before.  If I have, I don't remember.

Oh, that's what Angels are supposed to do, aren't they? Wonderful sequence of senryu, dearest Linda.

Haunting, yes!

I will count on you my dear when the day comes, to fly with me to the heavenly destination!

Love and hugs.

Alison ~

I'm pleased you enjoyed my 'senryuic story'!

I posted the original one almost seven years ago but have now 'revamped' it and have also improved the presentation.

Love to you, Lasky Girl!

Luminous One ~

Exactly! It is amazing the impressions and the amount of information that can be gleaned by an intuitive by holding an item that belongs ~ or belonged ~ to someone. (Psychometry). The object is imbued with their energy. Antiques are notorious for holding the energy of previous owners and a buyer may bring that 'energy' into their home.

It was good to hear from you!

Angelo Margherita ~

Yes, at least that is one of the things that this 'angel' has done!

Go into the Light!

To paraphrase Hamlet, "There's more to heaven and earth, Horatio, than is dreamt of in your philosophy." ~ This, I have found to be very true.

I have enjoyed your little poseys and 'pip'-ins while you are on vacation! I have been missing you, girlfriend!

ps ~

You might enjoy giving it a senryu a try! It's structure is the same as a haiku. The only difference is that a haiku is about nature.

I appreciate your nice response! Thanks!

Great form and style to this poem!  Wonderful that you were able to keep with the form of the sen-zen and still have it be interesting and fun to read.

Loved it!

I enjoyed your poem and all of its responses, especially this one.  I never thought of it that way before--that an object would retain an energy for a length of time of its previous owner, but I can see how it would now that you mention it.  We can see scientific traces of fingerprints, temperatures, ... long after they're gone.
Why not the feel of the energy of a previous owner?  Interesting.

Ooo...

You know that I love senryus, Linda. And this one has a brilliantly jagged gothic edge.

Love, Luke.

And all the roads that I've been strolling down... now I've found they all seem to be marooned. So profoundly doomed.

Oh this is almost like watching an episode out of those psychic series where they cross over people.  How wonderfully linguistic and artistically you have arranged these verses dear Linda, a truly magnificent rendering of the classic forms.

A fellow pipster just informed me that the font on this poem is bright blue! On my computer it is a sombre deep grey which is more fitting! Unfortunately, I cannot change it now because it is past the window for editing.

(big sympathetic hugs) I've always found it eerie how so many haunted places in the world are nonetheless surrounded by scintillating scenic beauty all around them. (sigh) I guess I take comfort in that, however, in that it shows some higher spirit and nature recognizes their mournful cries and empathy for all that's rich in life and it as though the meadows have paid tribute to them with lavender that is as fragrant and bold as their utterly radiant, yet ridiculed, blood...........so it leads me to believe, as tragic as their suffering was, they will forever be remembered and revered as surely as the lyrebird will sing!

(hugs) God Bless You, my friend, this is remarkable work!

XOXO,
