A Day Begets Another Day

A day begets another day
An hour begets an hour
The moments pass us by in haste
But for a budding flower

In silence does the rose unfold
Its petals to the sun
And lives a moment warmly lived
Before the day is done

Each moment takes a hasty leave
As seasons travel on
Then let us live and let us love
Before the moment’s gone

Liz,

I really enjoy how you express your thoughts.  I love flowers and I loved this poem.  It made me think of Marge too and her flowers that she shared with us.

Thank you,
A

I agree, Liz and it is "funny" how as we grow in years we begin to realize the importance of enjoying what we have.

True words, truly spoken.  There is so much we take for granted - both before and after ‘the moment’s gone’.  Stanza 2 is so eloquent, and reminds me of the English poet, William Blake.   But this is your poem, and I thank you for sharing it here.

Definitely true, dearest Liz. Always cherish the moments that are give to you. Before you know it, the day has gone by.

Yes, it does! And, before you know it, even the year is gone.
