Here I am, again
Slipping into madness,

or getting glimpses
of sanity, that makes
the madness recognizable.

Emancipation through isolation,

until there is barely
tolerance of self,

and "others" serve
as a life preserver.

It is a game I play.

Deep down
I know that whether
"sanity"or"insanity"
is perceived,

it's all in my mind.

So...
no matter

It is a game I play

I have named the game,

"Here I am, again"

I like fall and spring...

the other two
just make me
appreciate
the other two.

It's hard to respond  -  I don't read evey poem as if it is about the person writing it. But, this one unsettles me a bit.  That's not a bad thing.  I just kind of agree with late - I am a bit concerned - and I like the poem.

Great stuff. you write with wonderful introspection without coming off too brooding and deep...and with great humor as well! read many poems of yours. this one ranks up there. I think the other replies might be confusing madness for sadness...just my opinion. I'm fairly crazy and happy for the most part. really enjoyed this.

I really like these lines... the misery really makes us appreciate the respite. *S* Wishing you a very short winter. *S*

Well, in my judgement, at least 75% of the people I know are ass   holes. So, you'd best stay put in Autumn too. Let all the good guys out in Spring and then shut them away before they want to barbeque.

I think this is a very "real" poem and perhaps applies to a lot of us - and then when in bad seasons the ability to look forward and know you will appreciate the good ones more than you did before is, to my mind, a very positive and healthy outlook.  And then in a blink of an eye we enjoy the bad seasons because of what we know is to come.  Something perhaps like belief in an afterlife.

Larry, this is a brilliantly worked piece of work.  I particularly like the fugue treatment of "the other two
just make me
appreciate
the other two."
I, too, have found that there is freedom in the naming.
