Rendezvous

Evening shadows
and street lamps mist,
with lit cigarette I wait.
In the darkness,
cabbies drive their cargo
over the waves in the street.
Umbrellas bounce on the sidewalk,
people with somewhere plans.
Over on 20th, I see,
Rose trying to pay her rent,
while her kid waits on the bench.
The wind is chilled but
doesn’t seem to mind.
The moon is cut half and
does its best to blame me.
I zip my coat up to my chin
And cuss at you for my wait.
Your car pulls up with a hiss
I flick the butt and step.
When the window rolls down
I see you and smile,

You brought your dark eyes.

Must be worth the wait!

I liked this one Tim, lots of sensuality, could smell the rain. Interesting snapshot.

thanks TD, I think im gonna focus on doing some of this type (snapshots) poetry for a bit and less of the personel stuff. thanks for your praise.

For me, this has a Humphrey Bogart feel to it. You did a marvellous job of creating an atmosphere with this write.
