not in the morning nor the night: I saw the star of Bethlehem reaching left reaching right the only star that shone that bright: I wondered where the child was born. I drank a lot of wine that night worried, I saw two of them as one star wonder's of a wish, but two will fight: carpe' diem. Mars was red as Mars should be a tiny dot of strong-fist mean... Neptune needed more of me his fishes swam their swimming need-- I belched binoculors. "Does Venus ever get this big?" she asked me as I said "hell no" "Does Venus have a twin, like this?" Romulus and leave-me-lone.. We watched them all the morning long. Majestic stars twin Bethlehem... the Christed and the brother whim of manifest blest destiny as ballerinas danced the twins balancing the odds and weights of what was dead be born again *twinkle* *twinkle* little stars built by men who dream too far praying they come down again; not knowing that they fisted Mars that kept us wise awake --intent taking pictures blinking squints: "Dear God, pray tell us, what we've done." We wept until the sun came up and nothing ever was the same knowing knowledge circumstance pin-pricks in the sky at dawn, questioning our lives... our spawn balancing the odds and weights holding hands, comparing fates staring at the sky in awe not curious if we would die standing there like that. |

This was inspired by a sighting of the Space Station Orbiter, early Sunday morning...like um, 3 a.m. It was trying to align with the other Space Station thingie, so my friend and I were amazed to see TWO "stars", that looked very much like iconic Stars of Bethlehem, the larger one East, the other West. At least that's what the neighborhood rocket scientist said that it was. (The next day, after we stayed up all night wondering if we were gonna see star wars for real... ![]() And YES, we do happen to have our rocket scientist. (NASA retiree) grin Ain't life a trip? I've been tapping on this screen for years saying, "There's peeeeeeeeeople in there." Now I look up at the sky and whisper in awe: "There's people up there." ![]() Glad ya'll enjoyed. I'm sorry I haven't been around so much, but that was my only moment of inspiration of late. ![]() You all stay well and be happy. ![]() |

I watched them land and thought they had reall stones flying in that thing. It not only is older than any of my cars (and I only own very old cars) but it was both built AND maintained by the lowest bidders. ...and this: "built by men who dream too far praying they come down again; not knowing that they fisted Mars" ...is spectacular. |

Yanno, Serene One, your poems are always brilliant like Venus on a clear night. Hmmm, I suppose I should imbibe in more of the veni vitus ~ then perhaps I could get into the 'spirits' of writing like you and have some very interesting things to write about! Bring on the Dom Perignon! ![]() You are so talented ~ and with a mind to match! Linda ![]() ![]() |

So my ink grows on the vine? *laughing* and ![]() and Charly? I told my friend nobody was gonna believe/understand this--I should have known you would be the exception. So far only one other person knew exactly what I was talking about, but they had seen it, and thus believed...with a huge smile and nods, too. It was amazing. So I wanted to share. Thank you all so much, and now I'm off to make merry feast! Happy Lammastide to you all! ![]() |

ROTF I had copied the line: "I belched binoculors." and was about to make the clever and original comment that only you could belch a (misspelt) binocular, when I noticed Midnitesun beat me to it ![]() Karen you are priceless - you know that! Well your writing is anyway, lol. You are always fun, always unique, this is no exception; please get yourself over to Maree's place once in a while to lighten and effervesce with your weir ... uh, I mean talent ![]() And I was never sure if you knew who I am, was, are ... whatever - poertree, lest there be any doubt. I'm outta here ![]() |
