artwork by Janet K. Brennan And I ask myself. Where were you when my flower dripped with nectar sweet? Destiny, reveal it, oh sir! Upon your horse white, and I clad in my take me boots, clinging to that myth of Knights and Wizards, fair hiding in my bejeweled lair. . Yet, here you are. My dream invader. As I offer no defense, nor take umbrage. Smiling unto my soul. Sweet rain, a new beginning. Moving to my place of comfort among wildflowers and clover. Oh! Where were you when my eyes, clear as healing pools, imbibed that magic-wine? Savoring and soothing my heart' s dark night . For now you come, strumming your Midas harp, placing flowers 'pon my limbs mapped in colors faded-jaded. A stooped flower, aging. Petals dripping dew in the morning sun after a coldest night. And I ask myself. Where were you, sir, when I flowed nectar-sweet? And all the world was wrapped in wreaths of myrtle pine . As I clung to that myth of Knights and Wizards, fair. You were not there! ` ` Janet K. Brennan C-2009 [This message has been edited by jbstillwater (07-25-2009 03:38 PM).] |

quote: This has such a great sound, it is music really. It means that love loves those ageless souls who surrender to its call. So the lamentation can transform into incantation. Why not? I can relate, but I refuse to remember certain numbers. A heart that feels young is the best ingredient of joyous ... aging! Most beautiful write and very nice artwork too. I see you are a multitalent! My compliments. Love, Margherita "Love is the One who masters all things; |

Thanks fellow poets YOur take on my poem was perfect in understanding what it was I wanted to say. I think that some of these questions roll around in our heads at different times and phases of our lives, and then we realize we are "right where we are supposed to be." Huggs Jan |

This is very good stuff. It could be in the Newyorker magazine or the Atlantic. Where do you get this ability? I am impressed! |
