SHANTY EXTRAVAGANZA 24 July 2009 It was just a simple abode - somewhere between a hut and a house – that photograph – similar to hundreds more amongst the thousands I was working on today, but oh! the washing on the line - dancing in such joyous delight that I wanted to laugh and leap with it and pirouette and sing - and their colours so soft and happy in orange and turqoise and black and pink and white and patterned, imprinted on my soul past eternity. Oh, Diana, how deeply I feel this one too, you have written it with such enthusiasm. Your joy is contagious! You evoked a painting my husband had once bought (sadly not in our possession anymore ...), in which a woman hangs her laundry. It had those colors you describe so beautifully here and it emanated the joy and beauty of a daily gesture such as hanging the laundry. I adored that painting. And I adore your Shanty Extravaganza.
