For All Our Warriors From the badlands of Helmand Province To the rose strewn gate of peace The choir's voices rise above the village spires As in the graveyards others sleep The flag of pity draped across the coffin As his brothers carry his grief Walk step in stride to the vestry With his battered headgear as a wreath No poetry can offer this sacrifice But just words that say it all He fought,he died for others On the battlefield he did fall Let our brothers not be forgotten Let his enemy know our sorrow Let all carry an olive branch this day For some there is no tomorrow. |

hello Johan this is poignant, some sacrify themselves for a cause, a country and they deserve both respect and love, your poem is a beautiful and sharp homage to people that served others in the extreme...Thanks for the poem. yann |
