As some of you may have noticed from one of my earlier poems i have been diagnosed with a fatal heart disease and have been given only years to live. i am not telling all of you this for your sympathy or pity, but to share with you my journey over the next 3 years. hope you enjoy.Lee. __________________________________________________ There’s a little black box That rests upon my chest It sits inside a white case And keeps me on house arrest With cords all flung from its top And flashing lights on its side It synchronizes to my life’s beat As my heart takes me on another ride. For a while now it has been Just the little black box and me And although he drives me crazy I’ve become quite fond of Louie He pokes me in the ribs And keeps me up all night But I know he keeps me safe So I guess then it’s alright Sometimes I can’t help but feel Like everyone is staring They don’t see the true magic Behind this thing I’m wearing So I guess I’ll go another day Another month, another year. With just me and my little black box Who I still can’t help but fear. Inside this exterior, over which the eye might have roved there was the record of a pulsing life, which had learnt too well for its years – Thomas Har |
