Listen to the Words That I Don't Say

I'm fine,
'but I'm coming undone.'
I'm ready,
'but I've lost before I've begun.'
I'm good,
'but I know I'm not strong.'
I'm standing,
'but I don't know how long.'

The words in my head
of a heart near dead
in the silence are clear
and they’re all I can hear.

Listen to the words
that I don’t say,
‘cause what I say
ain’t always gonna be the truth.
Read between the lines.
Read between the fine
print and you’ll see
what I hide away.
If you listen to the words
that I don’t say.

I’m great,
'but I still want to cry.'
I’m confident,
'but I know that’s a lie.'
I’m happy,
'but I’ll never be free.'
I’m worth it,
'but I’ll never agree.'

The words I can’t say
are the ones that just may
save my soul and my life
if you listen to my mind.

Listen to the words
that I don’t say,

Listen to me!
Don’t ignore me!
Life is hard
And it’s before me!
So please just stay
and find a way.

It don’t matter
When I can’t speak
All the things
I really need to say.

Just listen to the words that I don’t say.
