I know I'm not perfect. I'm sorry. I know I'm not strong. I'm sorry. I know I'm not beautiful. I'm sorry. I know I'm not a genius. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for all the years you wasted on me. I'm sorry for all the lectures you wasted your breath on. I'm sorry for all the prayers you wasted on my success. I'm sorry for all the tears you wasted to guilt trip me. I'm sorry that I will NEVER be able to live your dreams for you. I'm sorry that I want to live my own dreams. I'm sorry that I'm better at some things than others. I'm sorry that I will go and choose my own way. I know I'm not perfect. I'm sorry. And yet... Not all that sorry. |

Wow. Brings back memories of a friend who said that her parents were upset that she didn't turn out like how they wanted. She cried a long time because of that. I find that how you keep the stanza's short and sweet because it keeps the reader doing his/her job. It's a beautiful poem; and a harsh reality. |
