the same nightmare every night
beatings from his father
and he doesn't put up a fight

it stays a secret
remains unsaid
every beating is a regret

one missed day
same as every week
secret hidden away
silence is not sweet

comes back to school
lifeless as ever
broken arm, broken leg
"dont worry, I'll get better."

one person knows
sworn to secrecy
cant handle it any longer
tired of this frequency

cant tell anyone
need to tell somebody
told my cat
she is my buddy

go to school the next morning
told him to tell someone
he gives me a warning

gotta keep my promise
cant let anyone know
have to tell someone
he cant wait much longer

i tell my mom
she tells the cops
she said it was the right thing to do
he gratefully says thanks a lot

I liked this poem, however I disliked that some stanzas have 3 lines and others have 4.

Its so sad that this really happens. I feel for the poeple that this happens to. Nice poem!

With God I am happy; sadness has no say in my life.
