I live a big house, In a nice neighbourhood, But that's because my aunt died, I have enough money for two cars, But that's because my brother died from malpractice, I have a perfect family, But that's only on the surface, My step-dad seems cool, But at night he creeps into my room, I can afford to go overseas every year, But that's because of the insurance payout for my dads death, You think I've never seen the sad side, But you haven't lived like me, You think I have the 'good stuff' But you don't know anything |

I really liked this poem. It made me think of the perfect lake and that people would just jump in but you don't really see what's underneath the shiny, perfect surface. Good poem. M Sadness, like happiness, has its own majestic beauty and must be embraced as a valid emotion, not pushed down as an abnormality. |
