Worth it? He knows she’s lied, he sees her soul, And yet he can’t help love her still. He wonders if this makes him weak. If respect him she ever will? His shattered consciousness unwhole, ‘Picks up the pieces, one by one. All those truths he will never speak, That will one day see him undone. Oh she loves him, that much is clear, But still paints a picture for him. He don’t need change, he just wants her To not keep things hidden ‘tween them. And yet to tell of this brings fear… He’s seen her rant, knows that she buys, (As heart and soul and mind concur), Belief to her very own lies. She does not know he would forgive— Even knows she will slip again… But she is his reason to live, So he won’t look to where she’s been. It’s her nature that drew him close, So how could he condemn her now? The very love that they compose Still so tethered to it somehow. …And so he just paces the web, His love, so pure, now hard to yield. To give it, himself selling out, To not, life alone surely sealed. In every waning moments’ ebb, His very integrity blurred; All feelings for her still devout, He utters not a flippin' word. Love. It'll make you and break you and there isn't anything you can do about it. I think. 88's She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

The last one that uttered a "flippin" word to me I beat into a flapjack! It was just a thought which made them run. It was just an act that killed them. |

Of course it's worth it. At least until you decide it isn't. Sometimes we make ourselves slaves to our own vision of love- or the fear of losing it. You did a fine job of describing this. Good poem. smiles, Constance |

I maybe wrong, but it seems that a lot of men get stuck in this. I'm sure it's not just a male thing, but in the situations I've known, that has been the case.

Interesting perspective, Jenn. It's the same with me, I have seen many males suffer similarly, but never realized I haven't seen any women go through this. I might have some theories as to why, but won't share them just now. Micahel |

Michael...Missed this masterpiece way back when, but so glad it was given a new life. just want to let you know I printed this if its okay with you. When I read it today my heart almost stopped, in case you are wondering why its like you looked into my soul and wrote the perfect feelings I have been going through lately. Five years ago I had no idea what the future held, but somehow you knew my future and wrote it perfectly. Where is that poem you were gonna send me about reincarnation? pdwilson52@outlook.com Thank you so much...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

Paul, was planning on getting that poem to you on Saturday. My work schedule has me gone 14 hours a day...Mon thru Fri. Why my presence here is so scarce during the week. ... and I have to sigh that you might be experiencing this, Paul. This was one of the toughest periods in my life. All I can say is hold true to yourself...set boundaries, and live by them. Was it Aaron Tippen who said "You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything." There are no truer words. Michael...Thanks ahead of time. Didn't mean to rush you about the poem. Being aware of my recent loss I'm pretty sure you can put 2 and 2 together and see how your poem touched me. The worst part of it is I never knew because of other circumstances we never got to see each other much, just talking on the4 phone everyday. Well I'll shut up and say thanks again my friend. Don't work too hard and stay safe...Paul What town in Mississippi did you visit back in 84? ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |
