My life in the spoken word - A number of contradictions that I've heard: "Live for yourself" but "consider one and all" "As long as you're happy, have a ball" "Remember your responsibility to family and friends" "You know you're better at making amends" "Don't let anyone dictate your life" "Listen to your Mother, you know she's right!" "Only remember the good" but "Don't forget the bad" "Remember to smile, even when sad" "Tell only the truth and stay away from lies" "Go on dear, it's only a little white lie!" "Those who take drugs are inherently bad" "Take this pill, if you're really that sad" I watch and listen, I learn and look The topics I've covered in magazine and book! But confusion reigns free, above one and all Watch out below! Think I'm going to fall! The spinning won't stop, at all, in my head Regardless of whether, or not, I'm in bed. Confusion is now inbedded deep Don't think I'll ever get any sleep! So many thoughts to take into consideration! What is the real key to finding elation? Those who don't listen and just do as they please, Seem to float through life, with the greatest of ease! But this I can't do, I just can't take that leap, Seeing the disappointment, cuts me too deep. So I'll keep listening and aiming to please And I'll keep trying, until I find peace. |

Once upon a time, I tried to please everyone too. I lost myself within that game, and to this day I'm still working on finding myself. There isn't a single person who can please everyone - because everyone wants something different. Enjoyed this.  -Trina. |

Many thanks to everyone who took the time to read this poem and post such positive comments. Still only able to check in on this site when good friends allow me to use their internet, so do hope no one thinks I've been rude in not replying sooner. (Would you believe the local council class this site as a "dating site"!? So you cannot log in via local library facilities!!! Your comments mean the world to me, thanks again |
