It has been estimated that there are literally thousands of Priests still abusing children, despite the claim that the practice has been “dealt with”. This poem is not an attack on the Roman Catholic Church, as abuse is probably widespread in most, if not all, professions involving children and vulnerable adults. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- I live in a crepuscular world of hot sweaty hands clerical panting death of the land of my childhood lost in a cellar of lonely dark dreams no-one will help me cos nobody seems to see what is happening who can I tell what he’s doing to me when the shepherds agree to lie through their teeth even to death he says if I tell I’ll go straight to hell I wake FOR THE LAST TIME. A powerful indictment levelled against all who will do a bad thing and call it good, using their carnivorous saviour as a source of absolution for their unpardonable crimes and drowning their victims in altar wine. I couldn't agree more. |

Thank you, Suncleaver. What shocks me, perhaps even more than the abuse itself, is the world-wide cover up. |

I've been meaning to read some of your stuff for a while now, Vampirelover. I'm glad I did. The abuse of a concept like hell is one of the reasons, I think, that so many find it difficult to take seriously the metaphysical claims of religion. Life's short. Think hard! |

Yes, fractal. As you rightly point out, it is the ABUSE of the concept that is the problem. |
