Each '......' signifies a long extension of the word preceding it followed by a pause, longer than the pause between stanzas.

anything.

weight......
overwhelming.

strength vanished,
appetite......
gone.

tears unbidden,
falling......
unheeded.

weary,
from breathing.

horizontal days.

tired......
eyes close.
