so guys this is the true story of how judy garland and terry crooper made it big together told from the caretakers' point of view...even though they were in different rooms enjoy...and seek the humor I got a face that most women don't mind Got less things ahead of me than I've left behind Don't mean to scare you, but she's starin' at me from across the room She moves closer to me, says "I'm not much more than glitter and dust" I says "Don't worry, ma'am, I'm not expecting much" Someplace in the distance, the band carries a novelty tune Standing at the bottom of the barrel and I can't stand the view I'm a litte self-centered, but baby, so are you You know, I hate to lend and I hate even more to give Sometimes you need to kill the things you want to let live This is the last waltz, you best move on and leave behind what's yours Now this town is more like a stone drenched in blood I'd like to see her again, maybe this time she'll do me some good But I'd like to see her speak less of herself This room has far too much standing space Let's take it out back, but let's not go to my place Self-indulgence means more to me than myself There's still place in the backroom, but why don't we move this downstairs I've seen much too little of her to really care There's a million things I'd like to do to you But I'm short on time, yes, I think we're through This is the last waltz, take your things and see yourself to the door Don't you look at me with those pearly ghost eyes Got more to do than add up your sweet-talking jive There's more women out there looking for a sucker to pin Gonna go downtown, search out another or two But chances are I'll just end up with you I'm searching salvation in a woman who doesn't care where my heart has been Just 'cause there's water under the bridge, don't mean there's no time for a quick dip When it comes to her, you know, she's less hit than miss I been trying so hard to pray all my sins away But since you're already here, you might as well stay This is the last waltz, and I'm a sucker for this tale Well I'm a novelty act, no, I'm not much more than that But she'll believe anything I'll say or hold back She listens to every word like the sun burns for the sea I said "I love you my dear, but time's what I lack Why don't we do this right here, this deal's pretty much in the bag" That's when she let go of my pocket, and her room's the next room I did see She said "Your hair's too long and your mouth's never closed" I said "The more it's open, babe, the more things you'll know" Hush now, baby, don't make a sound No sense in taking this layin' down This is the last waltz, and I've had it up to here with this place |

I think this is quite entertaining and well written. And considering the circumstances, besides the humorous aspects, there is the melancholy of what "A last waltz" implies. Very good! Love, Margherita "Love is the One who masters all things; |
