Trying to stay strong even though I know we don't have long,
Seems like every time something falls together it inevitably falls apart.
In such a short time,
you opened my eyes.
Goodbye will come too quickly,
there is no way to prepare.
Happiness comes easily when I'm with you but I can't forget what I can't avoid.
You are becoming a hero,
strong, proud, brave.
I can't help but fear I'm saying goodbye for good,
Distance and time changes everyone.
I don't want to let go of someone I'm just starting to know.
My heart aches with each and every beat,
I feel my mind race with all the possibilities of our fate,
I try to erase the reality of what is to come,
as I pray that I have what it takes to get through this type of pain again,
that it will all be worth it in the end.

This is well written, yet so very sad, deeply melancholic.

Makes me want to ask: is there not a way to avoid to say good bye?
