I am not this ugly land
in the desert
la mesa
wish a swept-godded-lead hand
with levelings of purpling
and juices squeezed in inbetween
as the the sun is screaming "me"
yellow in the dark....like us.

Like Daddy useta be.

* * *

Snakes were everywhere and us
picked them up and pet them "trust"--
they were green and lustily
hungry for the sweet tree frogs
like the turtles, like the thrust
of the sparking mosquitoes
dying in our stupid jars
as if, as if, we would go far
upon the path of our deathless
dots in dying of breathless
needs of wonder in the dark.

* * *

I am not this ugly land
I am not the greedy hand
covering the jar of more
needy needy spark and you're
the last of my love anyway--
dots in dying of breathless
needs of wonder as a lark
in the desert of mesa
where we used to touch

and be...

yellow flashes in the dark
like my daddy useta be:
trusted and nobility
with his edge of sword
for me

cutting slices
of the end
in sliver's kissing
silver reeds
by the water's edge

agreed

leveling the purpling

like Daddy said to do.

I need

these flowers of tranquility

purple spikes, hiking and more

in seed; as the fall

flakes us the spore

dancing

in mortality

down the crystal creek

to score

a place to be to begotten lore

in the warmth of sun, next spring

just like Daddy said it'd be:

hungry for the sweet tree frogs

eaten by the snake.

Agreeing with the previous reply 'card'
lady K, this one will find a special shelf spot
in 'my favorites' library.
You outdid yourself this time, serene sister.
BTW, you did write it for moi, right????

Indeed  you're not - recognizing the barrenness of the desert allows us to also know the oases when we see them.. Nicely done, Karen..

This one seemed to be lost. A new life for it today.

I never read this before, and if there was ever a reason you need to get a "book" made for even yourself, this is it.

You dear K, are sincerely the most valuable diamond I have ever seen or read, there are so many facets, and layers to you.  This is what makes your poetry so different, and wonderful!  Like Daddy used to do, you plant the seeds of beauty in your words.
