THE DARN NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

'Tis the morning of our family's Christmas Eve, and all through my wee house
My girls* and me were sleepin', along with one very sneaky, smart ass mouse.
I yawned, stretched a little, then heard all this bang and clatter,
I sprang from my bed, screaming, "Hey! What the heck's the matter?"

Then, what to my barely half-open eyes did appear?
Another dang big snowfall to spoil tonight's family cheer?
A blizzard I tell you, heavy snow fell overnight,3, maybe 4 feet ...
Yup, it fell on my blinking, just snow-plowed yesterday, street.

I'm ticked off I tell you - my dang shovel's 'bout worn out,
Mother Nature's messing with us - I;m sure that's what this is about.
I have tons of food to take up there, pretty goody tins galore,
Not to mention all the presents that sit on the floor, by the door!

Something tells me we are in for an "Un-Christmas" this year,
I need more than angels, and some four-wheel drive put into some gear.
See ~ I live in the mountains, and my son lives even higher,
Only way to get there, would be maybe, if we could "fly 'er."

Guess I will borrow a sleigh to pull behind my wee tush,
Hope I can get up there through all that darn snow and bush.
Can't disappoint my two grand girls, nope I would never do that,
Besides which, the exercise just might burn off some fat!

Bah Humbug I tell you, and whomever you are, STOP anytime soon,
Quit singing, "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas," you silly loon!
Not sure if I'll get there, nope, no plow will this ever fix.
Something tells me this year, our family Christmas is "NIX.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

p.s If you think I am kidding ... Here is poor Annie staring outside the window.
She tried going out as she loves it, but this time she just disappeared in the snow, so I brought her back in.

p.p.s. * my girls are Annie the dog, Sheba the cat

I've read on the BBC news site that it's going to be the first coast-to-coast Canadian white Christmas in 31 years Enjoy it! As for me, I'm spending Christmas being eaten alive by mosquitoes...It can get boring after a while when it's always summer....A merry Christmas to you! Mark

love this! but am so sorry it's messing with you today! Remember, you can start the new year right with gifts and food, and lots of hugs.
carpe diem, remember, even when gifted shovelfuls of "crappa diem"

Well Kacy - you know I will get up there somehow and I can't wait!  I get to play outside with the kids, and that is about the most special Christmas present I could ever ask for.

It is not stopping any time soon the weatherman says, looks like at least 4 more days of this.  I LOVE IT, but then I don't drive!

CARPE' DIEM IS RIGHT!  Here's a special hug for you and yours, take care, and Merry Christmas.

Yeah well Michael, get up and help me rhyme this dang thing will ya?       Oh well, I can at least cook!

Ah shaddup Toe!  You southerners sure love rubbing it in dontca?  Loveya!

Eric, how is it there?  Kit left for Florida from Ontario, and got stuck on the side of the road in the bus that was taking her to the airport!!  But she's a trooper - she got there!

Man alive I just shoveled out front but only from the front door to the roadway as Todd is gonna give it a shot to try to come here.  Man the rest are on their own in here as of now I am SO done shoveling!  Now wonder I am in good shape, some of the people where I live sit on their holly, and actually watch me from their windows.

Have a good one all!  Off to play Santa where I live, and then I am off ----->

T'was the day before Christmas, the Courthouse was bare,
Not even the cleaning crew, no longer was there,
In Judge Chamber's chambers, the stockings were hung,
In hope that some presents, soon would be brung,  (judges don't have to be English majors)
When up on the roof, there rose such a clatter,
DARN PIGEONS!!!  that hawk just gets fatter,
But no one was bothered, they all had went home,
Including Judge Chambers, who wrote this here poem.

Merry Christmas!!!

It’s Christmas Eve, and I feel nothing
(My birthplace’s 20 hours by boeing)
But swarms of ravenous mosquitoes,
(While my compatriots say it snows)
To Christmas red, my flesh they’re biting
While Christmas green sets as I’m puking,
The consequence of delicacies
So dirty and replete with chillies.

Well to top it all off - get this ...  I just got in from Emergency after stupidly stabbing myself! Yup, with one very sharp knife, I actually stabbed my lower thumb clear into the middle of my middle finger, trying to cut a plastic strap holding something on a cardboard.  I wish I could blame those stupid doll manufacturers for this inconvenience.

All I wanted was a dumb Ov-Glove and those neat scissors for cutting plastic and stuff from Home Depot for Christmas.  Maybe next time Santa will listen.  6 stitches later I am home finally but I refused to go to Emergency until all the presents were done, and I had that awesome turkey dinner.  As luck also would have it, in an over-crowded emergency room, I spotted my son's neighbour, (a doctor) on duty, so was in and out in less than 1 hour (stitches, shots, bandages, etc.) - a record for emergency.  So thank goodness for smaller miracles.

So...any disasters in your group? LOL

Merry Christmas Everyone.

Sandy sliced her finger open on a catfood can.. She walked around with it covered in gauze and holding it over her head all day.  No way was she going to the emergence room.. Stubborn girl - Where did she get that from anyway?

Glad you're all sewn up and partying again..

And we had to turn on the air conditioner so we didn't have to roast right along with the turkey! LOL

My dear fellow Canadian, I do so know what you mean! We were snowed in, as well. But that was okie dokie for us because we weren't going anywhere and no one was acomin'! ~ Except for dear ole Santa and his trusty reindeer! ~ But they have fought worse conditions to get those presents to all the little girls and boys! ~ and a few for the adults as well! hohoho

Sorry to hear of your mishap. Sending a kiss to make your fingers all better.

May the coming new year be filled with joy ~ and a healing!

Love 'n a warm hug,
Linda

Good grief this is getting really stale up here.  We have never EVER had a winter like this the history people say.  Now you can't walk because each street is a skating rink.  It took us (in four-wheel drive) about 2.5 hours to get home from the mall.  Yes, Michael it was worth it!
I actually stood in line for the first time in my life to improve the economy at Nike!  All the time saying, "Those poor workers that have to make all this for .03 an hour!"  Yes, me bad!

Beware Canucks - more is coming!  Buy lots of grub and hunker down.

Thanks for the giggle Sharon. I can't relate though. I've never had a white Christmas. Maybe one day - if I can get my hubby on a plane!
