Bones is upstairs,
lying in bed.

Mom and her latest man
are down stairs,
getting drunk.

Bones has all his clothes on,
just as a precaution,
in case things get nasty.

Bones hears them talking
down stairs,
they’re starting to talk
about him.

They’re not saying
anything nice.

Bones hears footsteps
on the stairs.

Bones opens the window,
he’s gone.

Bobby

wow...

each time I read one of these, it has such impact on my heart. It's hard to read. Harder to know kids all over the place, really do go through these things. I want to scoop them all up and save them.

I must confess... these are hard for me to read...but I find myself coming back each time to peak at Bone's life one more time...each time I come away thankful...not for what Bones has to endure, but thankful that I have been blessed...hard as it is to say, thank you for the enlightenment

Thanks Bill,

I'm sorry that you can relate so well to Bones.  What happened to Bones shouldn't.

Thanks for your concern, and kind words.

Thanks Paul,

For the kind words.  I'm pleased that you found it real.  It's real for many kids.

Bobby,

You reach out and grab me with your poetry.  This one just pisses me off.  No mother should turn on her child.

I read this one before and it touched me then as it does now.

Point well made.

Thanks dear Alison,

You are correct.  Mothers shouldn't do that, however, so don't always think right, and they do do such things.

Thanks Eric,

Yes, I think this one was posted before, some years ago, and some where else.

I'm pleased it worked for you.

Thanks Yann,

Hey, I'm with you.  My youngest boy just gave me a bottle of fine Irish whiskey.  He, his wife, and I shared some the night before I left.
