I'm not sure how many of you have read my poem/fable "The Sage" (or how many remember it, lol) but this is the second in an ongoing series of fables featuring the Sage character. "The Dreamer" Part I In years gone by, so distant now it seems A man was plagued by lucid, loathsome dreams The cause of these, the man could never face And ever changing were the nightmares’ themes He dreamt of fire, of brimstone and of pain He dreamt himself alone and dying in vain He’d dream of lovers dead and gone away The dreams, he knew, were driving him insane When daylight came, he’d wearily awake And curse these phantoms of his past mistake Old ghosts, it seemed, would never let him rest He knew not how much more his mind could take His waking hours he spent in penance deep With weary mind, so frail from lack of sleep Unable was his heart to carry on And hopelessly, the broken man would weep AMdG |
