"November Mist"

November drifts so steadily away
As a snowflake on the wind--more everyday
And the year is drawing closer to its end
With January just around the bend

A year once seemed so tedious, so long
Yet now, before I know, the time is gone
Like mist through fingers meant to grasp and hold
Away into the night, and winter's cold

I miss those youthful days of endless time
And it seems to me an awful, thoughtless crime
That minutes turn to hours turn to days
And years can flit so carelessly away

excellent work--this is especially outstanding:

"I miss those youthful days of endless time
And it seems to me an awful, thoughtless crime
That minutes turn to hours turn to days
And years can flit so carelessly away"

such memories this evokes

Understanding this, as the last few years seem to have passed at bullet speed.
