In New Zealand Amongst the Ancient Trees

Happenstance sometimes in dance
gives one pause to reflect
not that it was an opt to stop.

Gletsch is where I intended to be at
but a Kiwi das sprechen auf Deutsch
was probably a bit much to understand
so its Oberwald where I am installed.

Now, with my soft shoe shuffle
end to end its only ten there and back
had it been Gletsch
it would have been half of that.

Here there is the old amongst the new
the ramshackle and the upright
and nothing
to leave you feeling uptight.

In the night
where there are no street lights
just the moon and shadows.
The silence is profound
and thoughts so loud do sound.

The crowing cock
heralds the early morning light
weeping in pastel delight
across the silent mountain folk

Somewhere below
I hear pigs snuffling in the mud.
A farmers scythe the only other sound
as he cuts the frost fed ground.
This could be the most peaceful
place I have ever found.

time prophet - this looks as if it's a place for peace and harmony. Very nicely written and the graphics are great...

Bill, Thank you for your comments it is most definitely somewhere that harmony can be found.

1slick_lady, Thank you, there is no better way to welcome a day.

Maureen, Sometimes it's hard to remember just exactly where one is.

Margherita, your native country is very beautiful. Especially driving over the Grimsel, Furka, and Oberalp passes.

Pantheress, A  very scenic journey to rest a weary mind.

ateavenr, my pleasure. There are many places like it in the world but this is one of the best.

Grimsel, Furka etc. sigh, you make me homesick!
Once again enjoying this.
