November Morning Window

Through a cold, ice-tendril
  twilight November window,
fine sculpted frost-flowers
trim the rocks and fallen
  leaves
in premonitions of Wintry
  perfection.
Wisps of mingled smoke and
  early morning mist
hang frozen in the bracing
  air
awaiting a tentative dawn.

That's beautiful.  And why do I suddenly smell wood-smoke?  You've caught me.

Reminds me of the kind of winters I don't see anymore but I remember this picture you have painted on my mind.

Bruce,

We either share the same view or you are looking through my window.

Love this one.

lovely write...first-class all the way through...loved the ending:

"Wisps of mingled smoke and
  early morning mist
hang frozen in the bracing
  air
awaiting a tentative dawn"

the words seemed to leap off the page directly into my mind...
