the thing
about the dead
is that they can return,
but seldom do

they walk away
like children
who eventually leave home,
but occasionally return
to sleep
in a familiar room
only to find
the bed
too short

it is not
a better place
they’ve gone to,
just another
place to leave
when there’s no point
to hide and seek
or popsicles
or whiskey
or war
or love
or heaven

they are looking
for that thing
that can’t be
found
by looking

It can be found by BEING it .... LOVE.

Intense and thought provoking.
