Bonsai Branches Bend |

Bonsai branches bend artfully over a well-placed stone, reminiscent of the Big Sur cypress craggy cliff dweller I sometimes sat beneath, watching thunderous Pacific waves crash against the rugged rocks that line the northern California coastline. I am a long way from home, miles from the majestic northern coast, the warm southern sandy beaches, my beloved Channel Islands, piers and jetties. But the scent of salt air tingles in my nose, and in my mind I catch the last rays of the setting sun in my open palms, lift them back up for one more adieu, and smile. Life is good. You amaze me. "Life is good." My father said that to me, but a bit more urgently. Remember the gift that you sent to me? You said it was so I could think of you every day. And I do lovie, I do. And that is the true gift you gave to me. Life is good. thank you |

Yo dear Kacy, This is a lovely poem. It takes me back to the days about twenty years ago when I was into Bonsai training. I'll have to take it up again. Love Bobby |

Thank you for sitting with me tonight. Linda, Karen, Ida, ArtSolstice, Bobby. Karen, time passes too swiftly, we need longer calendars! I hope you really do that, Bobby! |

a most fine 'write'! I am especially fond of the ending: "I catch the last rays of the setting sun in my open palms, lift them back up... and smile" serious, sustained applause for this 'penning'! |

Darling friend, When I first left my home to go to college, I longed to smell the kelp and wet beach sand. I missed the fog and the salt on my lips. I told one of my older sisters and she sent me a box of beach. She dried everything carefully and put it all in a shoe box - when I opened that box, I was home. Close your eyes and open up your box of beach - it's there. The salt licks your lips lightly, the surf sings in your ears, and the ocean breeze touches your cheeks. It's there for you - you just have to open your 'box of beach'. With love, Alison |

Life is indeed good! I don't thing no matter how far we go from the Pacific Northwest it seems to get into our very soul through our skin, and becomes a permanent part of us Kacy. You see her well even that far way. Just great reading your words this evening. |

And I am happy to be here! I am regaining strength daily, and spending time at Pips makes me feel good. So as time permits, I'll be here. I love the change of seasons, though today I am chilled by a powerful wind that seems to find every crack and opening in this house. Guess it's time to kick up the thermostat another degree. |
