The flight of the phoenix ---------------------- Part7, past faces future ------------------------ The bird comes here for crumbs. The glory of past is shimmering as the setting sun lights the pinnacle of the old temple, calm and serene. The future is the bird with changing habitats, routines orits soft deception of trust upon its killers, us. We are sitting amid, covered with timelessdust. © 2008 - All Rights Reserved Kushal Poddar In the ancient city of Khajuraho apart from the wonderful, superhuman carvings and erotic sculptures a small feature is its birds. Every morning I saw millions of parrots and cockatoos swarming in the sky. Still a sect lives by catching and selling birds, though law is now strict. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The flight of the phoenix Part 6, path to the jungle ------------------- The pebbles whisper. Each of them has something to share. On quartzes no print can stay. History has streamed upon them. The hoofs of lonely horses can be heard some nights, hot nights with breeze choosing to be prodigal, returns the king. From death, oblivion. The jungle peacocks cry out. Myth spreads. © 2008 - All Rights Reserved Kushal Poddar clever talks delay friendship! |

quote: You listen so well with your ears, heart, mind and soul, dear Kushal, and it feels as if I was there with you. So beautiful. quote: You reveal an interesting aspect of this town. You guess I am sorry for the birds, but they spread their wings anew in some other place ... I repeat how much I appreciate your poetic offerings related to your trip. You are enriched and enrich us too. And beautifully so. Love, Margherita |

Oh, Kushal, that little bird coming for crumbs so trustingly to the species that kills birds . . . the picture of the temple blessed by the dying sun and the whispers of the history-soaked pebbles and the lonely horses hoofs . . . it is all so magical, yet real and memorable - I feel I can reach out and touch the elements of your poetry. When I see poddarku in the forum, I know, as I click on the poem that I am in for a treat. When I saw the first of the series, I had wanted to read them in order, but I see now that it doesn't matter what order they are read in as they are each so complete on their own. However, I do notice that we haven't seen Number 2 and I did a search on phoenix for poddarku and didn't find it there either. Won't you please post it too? - Owl |
