shards of the soul like a window pane strewn
o'er the lonely street corner of a cloudless mind
lights unshining like a dark pall's globe
hearts in longing like a warrant unsigned

a homeless love meanders in the shadows dim
while a deep-soul chariot rides the cluttered street
and the racing stars move through a moon-lit sky
as a fast jehu passes in a ride so fleet

the sound of an engine in a far-off lane
rumples the noise of an empty, dark road
as the scattering clang of a broken heart
crushes itself beneath its load

of shard-stiches sewn with a faltering hand
by a life un-lived in a life un-planned

I liked this, but I'm going to risk looking like the idiot (which I'm rather one anyway) and ask what the heck is a 'jehu'?

jehu was the name of a chariot driver in the Old Testament who was notable for driving 'furiously'

This piece is rich with many multiple levels, but then I feel that was the point.  And it certainly got THIS reader pondering...  I concluded that this pertains to many possible situations, and when one's not subject to change there is no certain cure, just scattered pieces of life.  At least that is how it spoke to me.

Very interesting read!

Enjoy the think-tank this morning.

Janette,
so glad that this write made you think...I love reading works that set my mind in motion...glad you liked the multiple level aspect and that it 'spoke' to you...thank you for your gracious comments

inkedgoddess,
surprised by my not once thinking of stained glass when writing this, but surely love your interpretation...and totally agree on the Bible comments...realized that the Jehu reference might be a vague one, but anyone with good familiarity of Scriptures might get it...thank you for reading and commenting
