I built in your soul a tower of love
brick by brick each livelong day
and in the night – well, night’s not come
for still I build and still I toil
to bridge the gap twixt heaven and earth.

Yet you would have me break it down
and drape the night o’er my design
to forestall a journey upward, out,
into that everlasting place
of eternal grace.

I harken unto words not said
but, pardon me, I do believe
a woman knows to not ere kneel
before an unwise errant king.

There was a once-upon-a-time
when royalty wore jewels and crowns
and ruled with deep and true insight
but eons past those days of yore.

I stand now a woman guarding more
than just a tower - bricks, mortar,
and how it shimmers, sparkles, glows,
in my forever twilight time.

‘tis the sword of love that pierces night
and halts descent of what’s not meant
but even women can succumb
when overpowered by no love.

Today, tomorrow; who can say
when towers crack and crumble
and spread and scatter stumbling blocks
on your road to heaven’s door?

That’s all.  No more my calling card
of words to you unread!

though I must confess that you left me shaking my head at times (not in disapproval, but just not getting it)...my bad, I still enjoyed your write.  I'll go back to read it again, but I found this jewel nestled amidst my haziness:

"‘tis the sword of love that pierces night
and halts descent of what’s not meant"

Those times, when love is given and not understood or returned, can be the deepest agony.  As a woman is an ocean, deeper than what can be seen on any surface.
I understood this with my heart and soul.
Sweet sister, you have written the secret ache of many an unrequited love.
Well done~

Honey, TD took the words right outta my mouth!
Mind you, her reply is one heckuvvalot better than the one I could have written!

I felt this ~ Heck, Helen, I feel all of your poems! Sometimes I may interpret them in a way that was not intended by you, but I still feel them with my own take on them! ~ But with this one, I believe I got its true meaning.

Love to you!
Linda

definitely beautiful!

The only time we waste is the time we spend thinking we are alone.

Thanks everyone for your comments.  I really do appreciate them and, Linda, it is my ardent wish that whatever (probably love) makes the words be written will just simply disappear.  I believe it is something that must be overcome and so it will be because the thought of dying while still trying is just too much to contemplate.

Keep building  dear Helen, Never give up,

They say good things come to those who wait.

Good luck and God bless.  Love
