no time for debate as rounds fly past popular war or not this one is suddenly...real no chance to ask why or challenge fate's cry only fear-tinged courage where men fight and die explosions too near to believe ...bombs falling faster... no time to relieve my mind, just to receive the fallout of ideology's fare cold to the soul, hot to the skin aimed at my heart down here where can I run--I hear...nowhere not at freedom's crossing not at peace's gate I hear the rush of gushing blood hushing the voices in my head the searing metal has torn clean through I lie there still and dead... faintly I hear the voices I heard so clear before country, family, valor and the peace to believe... it's why I fought this war |

I felt my breath shorten while I read your powerful words. If only the dead ones could still send a message ... I think it would be a plea to stop the crazy wars ... a message of love and peace.... to be spread by a poet. Thank you for this! Love and peace. Margherita |
