What’s the city to do
with the body
of a fourteen-year-old
prostitute boy?

No one is interested
in him anymore.

Mom’s forgotten him,
she’s empty headed anyway,
and right now
she’s pretty well wrapped up
with her new man.

Bones had no I. D.,
so the city doesn’t know
who he is anyway.

The students at the medical school
will show proper respect for his body.

They always do.

Bobby

i really liked this, the first stanza stood out to me the most. i felt sorrow for the boy who had no name, and happiness that at least someone would care for him.

this is really difficult stuff...difficult because you bring the reader (at least me) out of my comfort zone...I hate to think that Bones could even exist...yet your work brings him so very much to life...more than intrigued...

Yes, I agree - Bones is a comfort-breaker, but I am so glad to have met him.

This story is legion, but thanks to you we heard one of them.

If you go to the foot of Broad street, you’ll find Bones  putting on dem golden slippers .

Thanks Steavenr,

Thanks for the kind words on this poem.

Yes, Bones does exist.  He can be found most anywhere.

It's more enlightening outside a persons comfort zone.

Thanks Chopsticks,

You are absolutely correct, Bones story is legion.  The streets of our beloved Philadelphia are full of Bones.

Bones always marches in the Mummer's Parade.

Thanks James,

I'm pleased it worked for you.

BTW, Bones says hello, and so does Griseldam you'd like Griselda.
