Book of Loving Memories As I sit upon the porch swing and watch darkness ascend, I sit and listen to the gentle rain. The rain reminds me of bacon frying in the big old cast iron skillet my mother used for so many tasty delights, the pineapple- upside- down cake, cornbread, pork chops crisp and tender. As I continue to sit upon the porch swing the smell in the air is fresh and clean, with a light delicate fragrance of perfume from the rose, or the magnolia blossom, or maybe from the freshly mown grass on the front lawn. As I sit and swing, the neighbor children begin to play in the warm summer rain. Hands held high, spinning around and around, smiling, running, jumping with laughter, and singing a merry tune they have learned from where, they do not know. As I sit on this old swing, I think of past memories of parents now gone, children grown with families of their own. The children, I hope, will remember the contentment, the relaxation of good conversation, and the laughter of a silly joke. When the time comes, may they also have a porch swing. Then they too can build there Book of Loving Memories. Hugs BonBon |

Your porch swing sounds like a lovely place to be, Bonnie. Just the place for a poet. Ida |

I'm so glad my porch swing reminds you of times that are now in the past. The latest porch swing fun was.... I invited the children of the neighborhood and had a pizza party. Some of the kids brought along goodies and pop and sat on that old porch swing. Friendly chatter amoung us all. The parents of some also came and had pizza. I hope as the children grow they will remember the fun we had. Hugs BonBon |

Bonnie, It's so good to catch up on my reading, and especially yours, as I used my own cast-iron skillet [of which I have four!] just this evening when my husband is telling me, "you're using that old thing?" Wouldn't trade it, or the memories it evokes, ever! Hope all is well with you! Now, |
