Spider, spider, on the wall
you thought to leave the dream behind
and meander through life’s offerings
content to be unloved.

Lo behold, an ogre, me
unconsciously returns the dream
and back you go down to the feel
of heartache, tears, and more.

Spider, spider, on the floor
climb again unto freedom
each day, each night,
each week, month, year,
until that ogre, me,
overcomes and conquers
her subliminal reality.

And that spider, spider, on the floor
knows to be a brave soldier
and determinedly attack the wall
with fortitude and grace
and so it tries to stir and stretch
again into life’s offerings.

Spider, spider, where are you?
I’ve drawn a line upon the wall;
cross it and you know you’ve won
your climb out of a dream.

But that spider, spider, scared, afraid,
knows that ogre, me,
stands on the side subconsciously
waiting with the means
to again instil the dream
and it thinks to maybe die
rather than live a lie!

Love your analogy, Helen~  Reminds of the spider that got washed
down the drain,  only to resurface when I least expect it.

Pretty powerful stuff, for a spider bite!!

You've got to respect the tenaciousness of spiders. They let you have your way for a moment or two, but as soon as you disappear, their web activities begin again (like teenagers on internet blogs whose parents attempt to 'control' them??).
Most are beneficial, very few having poisonous bites (spiders as well as teens). The small brown recluse is not one to mess with, nor Madame black widow. Most North American tarantulas are harmless as well.
Guess it's obvious I love a good spider story!!!!

Lori - Yes, I know about those re-appearing tricks of spiders.  Also, they say that where there's one, there's another and I've proved that they are right.  Of course one can never find the other until it decides to find you.  Spiders!  Nope, not my favourite creatures.

Karen - You have me curious now and I'm not afraid of curiosity killing this "cat".

Kacy - Teenagers = spiders.  Yes, perhaps you're right!  Mine have left and taken their webs with them but there's one that when I visit I'm armed with a can of something or other.  Naturalists can sometimes take things too far.

Thanks all for the read and for your comments.

Love
Helen
