Truckers Lament

Someone tell me now what happened to,
The love that she and I once knew,
My lady said she’s had a change of heart,

Said she couldn’t love a man who’s gone,
She’s better off to live alone,
I feel as though my world’s been torn apart,

Now I’m headed south and catch’n gears,
And trying my best to fight the tears,
I never thought I’d lose my loving bride,

Yeh, She told me that she loves me only,
But she’s tired of being lonely,
A woman needs her man close by her side.

Now I’ve found out that the trucking life,
Is harder on a loving wife,
I can’t go on with out her near to me,

Well she took my heart and wrapped it round her,
Little finger, but I let her,
That woman’s man, is what I wish to be.

I guess it takes a special woman to love a trucker...they say the same about men in the Military...James

Nicely done. I drive a truck now, I've been to thts place. Hope you came out alright.

If every day is blessed, why do I feel so depressed.

This is well written and has a tender touch, dear Tracey, and no doubt a trucker's life isn't everybody's bread. Though the distance and the sweetness of returning home are factors that might also tie a couple more.

Love,
Margherita

They say that separation makes the heart grow fonder.  This poem has tenderly proven otherwise.  Thoroughly enjoyed.

If this is your personal story, then I am sending you ~ and your wife ~ a compassionate hug. That certainly is a sad scenario and you wrote of it convincingly enough for me to believe that you were writing of your own experience.

I want to write "Keep on trunkin'" ~ but that appears to be the crux of the problem with  your marriage.

Wishing you well,
Warm hug,
EA

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts.  I did get off the truck. Now in Transportation Management.

Although, I wrote this many years ago when I was with my first wife,  (now with my Third)

Life takes many interesting turns, And you can see a lot of them coming straight at you through the windshild.

The answer is always NO, Until the question is asked.
