People are drowning my hopes and my dreams
Songs and riddles aren’t adequate for me it seems
For years now I have tried to raise my self-esteem
But it’s just crashing down all around me.

I have had a low self esteem most of my life , but found it helps when I write

Keep writing, It's great therapy.
