A sleek white seagull swoops silently
over gently crested waves,
as a lone sandpiper scours the frothy seafoam
for a late afternoon snack.
The pulsating sun that warmed the sand
for my curious digging toes
has serenely slipped over horizon's edge,
leaving in its wake
a warm caressing persimmon glow.
The sheer magic of a coastal sunset
envelopes me completely.
For a brief moment,
all angst and misery
that encircles the globe
is but a fleeting bad dream.
As the sea releases each breath of fresh air,
tranquility prevails.

"tranquility prevails"

a beautiful wish for every person, kace...

and nod, let tranquility prevail, I say.

Serenity ain't up to it.

loving hugs!

What a nice place to be, Kacy. Tranquility and seagulls. (I love seagulls) Who could ask for more.

This poem is as peaceful as the fragrance of myrtlewood. Lovely, and greatly enjoyed.

. . . oops!  I have just woken up to the fact that I am not on the beach!  Love it, Kacy, especially the part about the toes in the sand - thought it was me!  Your seashore muse certainly came to the party.

You can't imagine how well timed it was for me.  Tranquility is something I like lots of.

I am looking forward to more of your holiday poems.

A sleek white seagull swoops silently
and she sells sea shells.  I thought we were headed for a tounge twister.  Instead a tranquil twist on the tounge.

Thanking each of you for your time and comments.
I was fortunate to have one full week on the Pacific coast visiting my daughter, with superb weather the entire time.
Tongue twister, eh? LOL, I hadn't considered that.

Midnitesun....a like very much the rhythm of this. And the alliteration is very, hmmmm, light. I enjoyed it. Bob

Thank you, Bob. The waves make their own alliteration notes, I just try to imitate them.

Kacy,

I am so glad that Bruce brought this back up to the top.  Do you think he sensed how much I needed this poem tonight.  Your words and images do bring me a sense of tranquility - and, even more, I smile when I think of you.

I am so glad that you are recovering and able to post now and then.  You are a most beautiful lady.

Love,
Alison

I also agree with Bruce that this is a very calming write and needs to be kept floating for awhile.

Hoping you are able to feel all the  warmth and wishes sent to you.
