Butch and Wawa
are older than Felix.

Felix is a tiny twelve.

Butch and Wawa
sometimes do bad stuff,
like midnight thieving.

Because he’s so small,
Butch and Wawa
see advantage in
making friends with Felix.

They get the child hooked
on cigarettes.

Felix’s Mom thinks
Felix looks cute,

with a weed dangling
from his lower lip.

Felix’s Mom never was
a bright and shining intellect.

Felix doesn’t stand a chance.

Bobby

M,

Felix still lives right here in the hood.

well I am glad that he has made it, because it seems he really has had a very hard life with very little nurturing.

Nakedthoughts,

The hood raises and nurtures its own.

It was your answer to nakedthoughts that really says so much and got my attention, dear Bobby!

There are implications that truly touch the heart.

Love.

Margherita,

As Hillary Rodham Clinton named her book “It Takes a Village”--it really does.  Our hood has had its successes, and its failures in raising our children.

One thing that never goes away though is the fact that all our children are loved, and cared for in our own rough fashion.

No matter where they go, or what they do, they are always welcomed home to the hood.

LadyTom,

Yes, your premonition is correct I'm afraid.

Stay tuned.

You are right, Bobby. When you don't have anything else you are lucky to have "the hood." I hope things will be okay for you and Felix. I fell a special connection to the two of you.

Ida,

Thanks for the kind words, and lovely thought.

Felix and I are doing very well, right here in the hood.

We both hope that you are doing well too.

You have a kind heart.

Reading the comments I see that things probably turned out okay for little Felix.
