The Measure of an Artist

The measure of an artist
A simple thing to tell
For we do make what fits us best
Be it heaven or hell

This measure here is just as sure
It’s what he makes for God
That men do ponder endlessly
As his work goes abroad

We all have a wondrous soul
An artist bears it high
And his every work of art
Shows what makes it fly

Those who have sorrow wed
Will of sorrow write
While those who know the love of God
Will surly tell of light

I hope that when you hear this poem
It will change your days
And the lighted meadow show
The error of your ways

For God to is an artist
Who his soul does show
In every mountain pasture
So that man may know

The measure of God is simpler still
It’s what he gives to man
Life and redemption, if not happiness to
Look and see, every flower is for you
This poem changes meaning depending on whose perspective it is from. Try it from the perspective of an artist or poet, a priest perhaps. Think of it from the perspective of a student, walking into art class or reading a friends poem. Think about yourselves on this forum, reading the work of people you've never met and learning things about life, and about them. I acctually don't know everything this poem could mean (and I wrote it) so I would apprieciate any comments on the subject you guys have.

Dear poet, I viewed this poem from all perspectives that you mentioned in your addendum ~ except from that of a priest!

~ From every angle there is merit to be found in your divine words.

~ and yes, God is the greatest Artist of All.

Love & God's Light,

I hope that when you hear this poem

And the lighted meadow show

for some it takes much more than just reading a poem, me being one of them

but I've been in jail and really that did it for me

loved this poem! great writing!
