Before Noon

Is it depression or a lack of will
when there is so much to do
and you sit here still?

I wonder sometimes when tomorrow comes soon
and I know the must dos,
yet I sleep until noon.

Oh just sometimes, those weekends when I'm off my pace
when I question each thought
and my heart starts to race...

So I imagine the things that I must do that day
but when checking my list
accomplishment's "nay".

Then I sigh,  say to self that tomorrow will come
and I'll do it, I promise
when I'm feeling less numb.

Tomorrow is here and in panicking start,
'gainst odds,  I'm less even
and still pounds this heart

Wishing in thought for relief to come soon,
an incentive... completing
the past before noon.

Dear Maureen, though I never get to sleep till noon, I can relate to the awkward feeling of not using the available amount of time in the best way.

Your title is great! Indeed we say that mornings hold gold in their mouth (Morgenstund
hat Gold im Mund!)
because our energy level is/should be  at its highest point of efficiency. But when there is sadness we drift ...

Things will change, dear heart. And we must straighten our backs to do the first step.

Enjoyed this very much, it is a great write.

love and hugs

for whatever tiny 'consolation' it might be...
you are not the only one feeling (and 'non-
accomplishing') similarly! Writing (alleged)
'poetry' is my temporary 'escape!' from such
'thoughts and feelings;'

fine, honest, emotinal 'reality' write!

I can also relate to days like that but the trick is to not feel guilty about it and to really enjoy the rest. Tomorrow is, after all, another day.

M-
Oh, how I can relate to this! Motivation often seems to play hide-and-seek with me on a daily basis.  I often wonder how long it would take me to get bored if I truly had nothing to do. :-)

Lots of wayward and comprehensive thoughts here...
just like it is when we're thinking ahead
of our game.

I know this feeling well!

M,

The older we get, the less we accomplish & the worse we feel for not doing as much as we thought we should have...the trick is not to try too hard or else you will then spend unproductive days in an effort to recover from overdoing things...I can still do the things I did at 19, just takes me weeks rather than days to get the kinks out! Enjoyed this write from the heart

I don't over do any more John...just trying to do  takes enough energy right now.

Problem is the things I want to do instead of need to do, interfere quite often.

I do so know that feeling. As I have gotten older, I have become more of a procrastinator and then I feel so ding dang guilty when I don't accomplish all that I want to do.

To discipline myself, I have to make a "To Do" list. I get great satisfaction when I can check  the chores, or whatever, off! Mind you, there are some items that still don't seem to get checked off! Aye, there's the rub! Well, at least the lists help somewhat! lol

Loving hug,
Linda
