We live but for a moment, our life but tiny grains of sand, Passing through the hourglass of time. All our hopes and dreams and plans. The footprints that we leave behind of all we do and say are set in stone to remind life is but for a day. *** Every deed we've ever done, every poem we ever wrote, good or bad, happy or sad, no more than just a footnote. *** Within it we must choose our own path, our own way and whether to fill it full of sunshine or fill it full of gray. I've heard it said that we're all actors and life is but a stage. It may be so but there's footnotes we leave on every page. *** Every deed we've ever done, every poem we ever wrote, good or bad, happy or sad, no more than just a footnote. *** Each day a brand new start, a fresh beginning, new path to walk with a wiser, gentler heart grown from seeds to hardy stalks the lessons that we've learned. Gold and silver turn to dust. Hopes and dreams soon perish except for that we trust. *** Every deed we've ever done, every poem we ever wrote, good or bad, happy or sad, no more than just a footnote. *** It will last for all eternity, what we place in God's hands though we may be but a footnote in the history of man... Yet perhaps, to someone one day, it will give some reason and some rhyme, should they happen on the footnotes, our footprints left in time. *** Every deed we've ever done, every poem we ever wrote, good or bad, happy or sad, no more than just a footnote. *** They are the lessons of our life, the journey of our past... And though our fame and fortune may fade away, what is done for Christ will forever last. Yet perhaps, to someone one day, it will give some reason and some rhyme, should they happen onto our pathways, those footprints left in time. LynnFromCT, This is well thought out. In the line: “no more than a just a footnote.” I’d drop the first “a”. I’d also avoid the repeated strophes, and use "written" instead of "wrote" Bobby |
