The Doves Sonnet... for my Valentine The trust I give these days is without fear And winters bite has lost its chill to me That crystal on my cheek is not a tear Although the glint may speak of hidden glee I heard the pain you spoke for all those years And wondered at the inner strength you had I hope that your new path be filled with cheer And forks or bends don’t ever make you sad On balcony we stood above the crowd And talked about this feeling in our hearts The shock that we could say these thoughts out loud As if these years were moments just apart In you I feel the freeing of the doves As I was wind and welcomed you with love.
