An Act of Love

A darkened landscape,
burned out buildings, ghosts of twisted trees
line deserted streets:
a deadly war has raged here,
and probably still does.

Does anyone still live inside these broken homes
or is it only their ghosts who cry and moan in the wind
blowing through empty windows?

A black bird, once white, flutters weak wings
across a greying sky:
Had children once pointed at it
flying through a sunny morning?

Hope had once flourished over this desecrated world,
the hope of light, of life, of love,
but forces of darkness intervened:
at the moment of freedom a new weapon was forged:
the ultimate lie was unleashed!

An old earth staggers in the dark
within an old system grown cold;
an earth fed by fear and chaos;
an earth darkened by hate and distrust;
an earth peopled by those who refused
to see the signs back then.

A new earth spins brightly
somewhere in the galaxy,
an earth nourished in hope and joy;
an earth enlightened by love;
an earth peopled by light beings
who read the signs back there.

Within the new found joy of earth
set as a jewel in space
sadness reigns still for those
who feel the pain of chains,
the moaning and crying of slaves
trapped by their unbelief
within their burned out world.

So the call goes out once more:
and volunteers line up eagerly
for another mission impossible:
to return incognito upon old earth
and commit an act of love.

This is one of your finest efforts WW and that is saying a lot. I completely understand and believe in this wonderful view of worlds yet to be. Bravo!

Amid the darkness and chaos, you found a bit of light, and offered a warm ray of hope.
Now, to see how many will take the step to spread love instead of hate. Count me in, WW, as a volunteer, both now and in the future.
